I still remember that day.

It was UP class 6th. GMUP School, Mundambra, Malappuram, Kerala. A normal day that somehow became the most important day of my life — though I didn't know it then.

They took us to the computer lab.

I walked in and saw it. A big monitor, a keyboard, and this strange little device sitting beside it — the mouse. I had seen it before in pictures, maybe, but never touched one. Never needed to.

The teacher said something. I don't remember what. I was already staring at the screen.

When my turn came, I sat down. The chair felt big. The desk felt important. And that mouse... it felt like holding something alive. It had a ball at the bottom — a little rubber ball that rolled when you moved it. I didn't know that. I didn't know anything.

I tried to move the cursor. It went left when I wanted right. It went nowhere when I wanted somewhere. I clicked. Nothing happened. I clicked again — both buttons at the same time — nothing. I didn't even know you're supposed to use only one button. Both buttons together? That's just... nothing. That does nothing. I know that now.

But that day, I sat there, a little boy pressing two mouse buttons together, confused and slightly embarrassed, while the cursor blinked at me like it was laughing.

I didn't give up though.

We had a 40-minute IT period for a class of 40 to 50 students. With very few computers, that meant maybe 5 to 10 minutes per student. But those 5 to 10 minutes? I used every single second of them.

Day after day, period after period. Multiple attempts. Multiple failures. Multiple "oh, THAT'S how it works" moments. Slowly, something clicked — not just the mouse, but something inside me too.

And then one day, I opened Paint.

I drew a house.

It wasn't beautiful. The lines weren't straight. The roof was crooked. But I made it. With a mouse. With my hands. I drew something on a computer screen, and I felt like I had touched the future.
